Tenesha Calloway affectionately known as T and professionally as T. Nickole_Styles grew up in the North side of Richmond. Graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School, she began styling hair at fourteen by hair braiding, weaves and interlocking for friends and family which gravitated into a love for the profession. Although, not at first, after high school she attended Norfolk State University and studied phycology, then on to study business at Saint Paul’s College and finally cosmetology at Empire Beauty School, she worked as a fraud supervisor. It was after finding out that heart surgery was necessary to clear an artery that was 98% blocked, out of work for nine months and three children to take care of that becoming an entrepreneur was the only way she wanted to live her life.
Hair styling has always provided a way to relieve stress and the joy of making people smile and feel better than they did before they sat down is therapy in itself. She currently works at Unlimited Performance Beauty and Barber Salon back in the North side of RVA where she grew up, specializing in loc maintenance, braids and weaving. Featured on Locksworld_onelove website and Instagram awarded Best Dreads at the RVA Hair Battle 2016 and let’s not forget Beauty and Barber Magazine 2016.
Of course we had to get in her business with a couple of questions.
Who was the person that inspired you to do hair?
“It would be foolish of me to claim one person, this was inspiration from my beautiful family, friends and especially my uncle Nelson who’s resting peacefully he gave me my first barber chair.”
What are you professional goals?
“Professionally I intend on owning my own barber shop but more so I want my clients to love my work and to be respected by my peers.”
Be sure to swing by Unlimited and check her out!
